The role is responsible for the maintenance and operation of utility‑scale PV power plants, including monitoring via SCADA, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting and repairing AC and DC components such as inverters, modules, transformers, switchgear and metering. The position also leads the training of junior technicians, ensuring they meet NovaSource’s Technician Qualification Standards through on‑the‑job coaching, safety instruction and skill development in electrical troubleshooting, substations, preventive maintenance and compliance.
- Perform to quarterly key performance indicators such as actual versus expected energy generation, on-time planned maintenance, and support overall plant and equipment efficiency
- Ensure a safe work environment by promoting strict adherence to company protocols
- Responsible for personal safety, quality and schedule adherence
- Conduct hands‑on training sessions for maintenance technicians on Utility Solar systems, troubleshooting, and repair
- Guide technicians in diagnosing and repairing electrical issues in industrial equipment and control systems
- Train on reading and interpreting electrical power systems, i.e., one‑line diagrams, site documents, and wiring diagrams
- Provide on‑the‑job coaching to improve technicians' skills in Utility Solar and safety
- Teach proper preventive and predictive maintenance techniques
- Perform and document training and ensure compliance to Job Hazard Analysis, Pre‑Job Brief and Lock‑Out‑Tag‑Out procedures
- Train personnel in safety, environmental and procedural requirements
- Ensure all junior technicians follow OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and local electrical codes
- Promote a culture of electrical safety awareness
- Coordinate on‑site project planning, installations, commissioning, quality inspections, and performance testing
- Write and enforce work and equipment testing instructions and procedures, including normal and maintenance operating procedures
- Ensure work orders are complete in their entirety
- Prepare documents necessary for procurement and utilization of materials and vendor services
- Ensure all documentation and required reports are reviewed, complete, submitted and filed
- Attend, participate in and pass all assigned training in safety, environmental and other areas as assigned
- Maintain work area and site housecleaning to 5S standards
- Verify SCADA site configuration
- Adhere to Company vehicle maintenance standards and safety standards
- May lead work groups and supervise plant evolutions

The incumbent must demonstrate strong safety knowledge, including arc‑flash, lockout/tag‑out and job‑hazard‑analysis procedures, and must be able to work independently, manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively in English. Travel to various sites may be required to assess and qualify technicians, and the role reports to the Area Manager while potentially supervising work groups.
- Minimum 4 years experience in Utility Solar Operations & Maintenance
- Demonstrated ability to coach and develop team members through technical acumen
- Experience operating and maintaining power plant electrical systems, SCADA, controls, troubleshooting advanced electrical components, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance
- Electrical certifications, state, journeyman, etc.
- College or technical degree preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Equivalent training in military, utility, or power industry a plus
- Ability to bend, kneel, twist, lift up to 70 pounds, climb ladders, wear PPE for extended periods, work in various temperatures and uneven ground
- Knowledge of electrical safety and arc flash standards
- Ability to use training materials, OEM manuals, and OJT performance evaluations in the field
- Understanding and ability to follow operating, switching, maintenance, safety and environmental procedures
- Strong safety background with experience in Lockout Tag Out and Job Hazard Analysis
- Working knowledge of industrial or power facility operation and maintenance
- Knowledge of local and national electrical codes
- Proficiency reading and understanding electrical schematics and prints
- Proficient at medium & high voltage switching
- Experience testing and troubleshooting medium and high voltage equipment, including transformers, potential transformers, current transformers, breakers, relays, contactors, motors and inverters
- Capable of retrieving relay files and documentation
- Fully fluent in utilizing a CMMS system for maintenance tracking
- Proven computer skills in a Windows environment (Microsoft Office Products)
- Ability to communicate in English both verbally and written
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
- Ability to work independently with little to no direction within company compliance and work processes
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to complete NovaSource Technician Qualification Standards successfully within 90 days of hire
- Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders
