Water Quality Maintenance Technician

Description

In this role you will improve water quality by carrying out mains flushing – a process that removes sediment and particles from water mains to reduce customer contact and enhance service. You will join the Network Infrastructure Programme Team where health and safety are paramount, and applicants from any background with strong attention to detail and a passion for meaningful work are welcomed.

• Inspect network assets and identify issues before work begins.
• Perform mains flushing and related field activities following Southern Water policies and RAMS.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Control Room teams to minimise customer disruption.
• Record and submit flushing data via company systems and mobile apps.
• Report site incidents and near‑misses with mitigation actions.
• Deliver excellent customer service and respond to field queries.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities for team performance.
• Communicate effectively and engage with stakeholders.

Requirements

• Hold a full UK driving licence and travel across counties.
• Work independently, adapt to changing situations, and maintain attention to detail.
• Demonstrate physical resilience for outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Desirable: experience with mains flushing or water networks.
• Desirable: NRSWA street‑works knowledge.
• Desirable: previous water industry experience.
