OHE Lineman A

Description

The OHE Lineman A works under the guidance of a Journeyman Lineman and Foreman while training in the trade. The role involves constructing, maintaining, and inspecting poles, power lines, auxiliary facilities, and related equipment for electricity distribution. The lineman also models safe practices and supports the line team and other department personnel.

• Construct, maintain, and inspect transmission and distribution of electrical or power lines.
• Provide technical skills needed for reliable electrical services, completing jobs with quality and timeliness.
• Connect, disconnect, install, remove, move, and transfer various electrical devices on customer facilities.
• Route or reroute power lines over, under, or around existing lines and structures.
• Inspect and/or remove damaged power lines.
• Assist in carrying poles, digging holes, and other operations involved in setting or replacing poles.
• Perform line switching or sectionalizing as directed.
• Assist in on-the-job training of apprentices and crew members in maintenance and construction of power lines.
• Submit all Apprentice Program required documentation in a timely manner.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems on customer equipment as needed.
• Drive bucket truck to job sites and maintain truck stock.
• Investigate consumer complaints and repair energized electrical distribution lines as needed.

Requirements

Applicants must meet minimum education and experience standards and hold the necessary commercial driver’s license; additional experience and safety certifications are considered advantageous.

This position is performed in a field environment and requires frequent bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, lifting, and other physical tasks, often in extreme weather conditions. Employees must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, have clear vision at various distances, precise hand-eye coordination, and color-distinguishing ability.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years lineman experience.
• Valid Class A CDL.
• 5 or more years lineman experience (preferred).
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred).
