The Staff Accountant plays a central role in managing project‑based financial activity, emphasizing accurate billing, revenue recognition, and project cost tracking. The ideal candidate brings exceptional organizational discipline, strong analytical capabilities, and a commitment to confidentiality and integrity. This role ensures project financials are processed accurately, deadlines are met, and stakeholders receive timely, reliable information.
- Prepare, review, and distribute project-based customer billings per contract terms
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and financial performance
- Maintain project accounting records, including job setup, cost allocations, and revenue tracking
- Coordinate with project managers to validate billing milestones, change orders, and cost adjustments
- Reconcile project accounts and resolve discrepancies proactively
- Support project audits, compliance reviews, and financial reporting requirements
- Process accounts payable and maintain purchase order system
- Process employee expense reports
- Assist with employee timesheet processing and labor cost allocations
- Prepare journal entries
- Submit contractor reporting and registrations
- Process state and local business registrations
- Provide audit, tax, and compliance support
- Maintain and respond to general finance email inquiries
- Distribute incoming mail, including AP and AR documents
