Sourcing Engineer

Description

The Sourcing Engineer will manage and execute supply‑chain and purchasing projects, focusing on supplier quality, new supplier development, ERP system improvements, supply/demand modeling, logistics optimization, and overall process enhancement. The position works closely with product development to ensure new products have adequate supply‑chain support and oversees supplier quality issue tracking from creation to closure.

• Lead purchasing projects such as new supplier development, cost reduction, and process improvement
• Apply statistical analysis to identify manufacturing process improvements within the supply chain
• Source new and existing products
• Maintain accurate project schedules and promptly communicate issues to management
• Perform cost‑based comparative analyses (Make vs. Buy, Buy vs. Buy)
• Evaluate supplier capabilities against business demands
• Conduct inventory analysis and manage ERP processes (safety stock, order frequency, order quantities)
• Collaborate with product development to ensure supply‑chain readiness for new products
• Manage the Supplier Quality Issue Tracking system from creation to closure
• Identify product specification discrepancies and work with vendors to resolve them

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Industrial or Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Relevant sourcing experience acquiring materials, components, and services preferred
• Experience with steel, aluminum, wood, or plastics manufacturing processes preferred
• Proven problem‑solving and project‑management experience in operations, manufacturing, or supply chain
• ERP/MRP system experience a plus
• Strong spreadsheet and database skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Ability to consult and interact with suppliers and cross‑functional internal teams
• Less than 20% domestic and international travel required
