The role involves supporting day‑to‑day operations and delivering consistent, high‑quality customer service while maximising revenue through the Zoo’s customer service outlets. The Assistant Duty Operations Manager will act as the senior person on duty when the Duty Operations Manager is unavailable, lead staff to create positive visitor interactions, and assist in delivering conservation advocacy programmes and events.
The role is 40 hours per week but requires flexible working, including some evenings, weekends and occasional public holidays, and may involve supporting other conservation advocacy and engagement teams as needed.
The ideal candidate loves providing exceptional customer service, thrives as a positive role model and has experience supervising teams in a customer‑service environment. They possess strong administration and communication skills, use initiative to solve problems, and are passionate about wildlife and the natural world. Collaboration with a range of teams and supporting others to achieve objectives are also essential.
This is a permanent, full‑time opportunity at Auckland Zoo, a not‑for‑profit wildlife conservation science organisation dedicated to bringing people together to build a future for wildlife. The role offers an inspiring environment working alongside passionate people.
Working at Auckland Zoo offers a unique career within a lush, green environment that directly impacts the lives of over 1.5 million Aucklanders. The organisation provides flexible working conditions, a focus on well‑being and a culture of continuous improvement.
