The Head of Creative guides creative execution and owns design‑led product categories, reporting to the Chief Creative and Marketing Officer. The role blends creative direction with commercial accountability, overseeing assortment selection, vendor partnerships, merchandising design, and promotional planning. In this hands‑on startup retail environment, the leader supports store design and customer experience while acting as the business owner for design categories, partnering closely with the merchandising team to ensure inspiring assortments and strong business results.
Key responsibilities include leading creative and visual efforts across in‑store design, displays, signage, and omnichannel touchpoints; owning assortment, pricing, and promotions for design categories; overseeing merchandising execution to highlight curated products; and collaborating on buying and category planning with the General Merchandising team. The role also requires cross‑functional partnership with marketing, operations, and merchandising to integrate design categories into campaigns and experiences, as well as mentoring the creative team to deliver high‑quality outputs.
The ideal candidate brings strong creative and retail expertise, experience managing assortments and vendor relationships, and the ability to balance artistic vision with data‑driven commercial results. Technical proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and content production workflows is essential, along with proven leadership, collaboration, and persuasive communication skills.
Required experience includes 8+ years of progressive creative direction or retail design work, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. A bachelor's degree in Design, Visual Arts, Marketing, or a related field is required, while a master's degree (MBA) and relevant certifications are preferred. Ongoing commitment to learning emerging creative tools and retail design trends is expected.
