Network Security Engineer

• Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting across client environments as needed.
• Implement and manage Zero Trust Networks across cloud and local environments.
• Design, configure, and maintain AWS-based network infrastructure.
• Secure and manage IoT device communications across wireless gateways, access points, and VPNs.
• Run a small managed services team, ensuring SLA compliance and prioritization of critical support issues.
• Lead efforts for SOC 2 Type II audit readiness and ongoing compliance.
• Ensure uptime and secure routing for hybrid cloud and edge-based deployments.
• Oversee network security, encryption standards, and vulnerability assessments.
• Maintain documentation and systems that support security policies, incident response, and business continuity.
• Manage and support internal IT systems and end-user devices, including desktop support and break/fix services.

NBS is seeking a Network and Data Security Engineer with deep expertise in cloud networking (AWS), IoT and wireless device networks, and enterprise security compliance. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining and securing our infrastructure, leading managed IT services, and ensuring all systems and processes meet SOC 2 Type II compliance standards. You’ll work closely with the engineering and product teams, while also managing urgent field support requests and internal IT operations.

• Proven experience with:
• AWS networking and security services (VPCs, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.).
• Experience supporting energy management, smart building systems, or industrial IoT deployments.
• Experience with MDM tools and endpoint protection solutions (e.g., CrowdStrike, SentinelOne).
• Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CISM, AWS Security, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.
• Strong familiarity with desktop support tools, ticketing systems, and managed services operations.
• Knowledge of automation and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• VPN configuration and secure remote access.
• Traditional networking (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VLANs, firewalls).
• Familiarity with IoT systems, LoRaWAN, BACnet/IP, MQTT, or Modbus communications.
• Hands-on experience preparing and supporting SOC 2 Type II or similar audits.
• Detail-oriented with strong multitasking abilities and a commitment to meeting and exceeding SLAs.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a Network Security or Systems Engineering role.
• IoT wireless networks, including gateways and access points.
• Zero Trust network design and implementation.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
