Ensures the safety of Construction Management employees, State employees, and Contractor’s employees, as well as the traveling public by observing the contractor’s operations and traffic conditions, making recommendations, and taking corrective action when necessary.
Reviews construction processes and engineering layouts
Review contractor operations for compliance with CAL OSHA regulations.
Reviews of daily inspection reports and other project documentation
Attends and may lead construction meetings with client and contractors
Oversees materials testing activities
Provides directions to staff to ensure complete, accurate, and timely contract records, pertaining to construction progress, job expenditures, budget programs, and work order balances, are maintained in accordance with the State and Federal regulations and laws
Reviews project activities with client and contractor’s field supervision resolving disputes and other daily issues
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to Arcadis’ Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Plans, reviews and assigns work of subordinate field or construction field office personnel

A demonstrated ability to read and completely understand contract documents
A minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer or related roles (or equivalent working knowledge/experience).
Prior experience with construction/operations on a State Highway
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Professional Engineer (PE) / Licensed Civil Engineer in the State of California.
At least 5 years working as a Resident Engineer on Caltrans Highway improvement projects of similar size and complexity
Experience as a Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, or Project Manager on a State Highway System project of at least $30 million.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering-related field (e.g. Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, etc.)
