Regional Environmental Lead - Northeast Region
Kiewit
One of North America’s largest construction and engineering firms delivering complex infrastructure and industrial projects.
Lead and oversee environmental management practices/permitting compliance for Kiewit's construction operations in the Northeast Region.
Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings avoiding and minimizing adverse effects to the natural environment and local communities.
Attend field visits with Client and regulatory agencies.
Update environnemental plans.
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Function as a principal technical advisor and coordinator for environmental issues.
Lead the environmental compliance & permitting for the construction operations.
Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels.
Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring (water quality, underwater noise etc.).
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
Maintaining project data tracking requirements.
Monitor, forecast and communicate environmental costs at the project level.
Identify, assess and reduce environmental risks to the company.
Coordinate with relevant crews on their work locations, material needs, quantities and invoices.
Liaise with the client providing them design information, schedule details, quantities etc. ensuring they are aware of any unanticipated discoveries, critical permitting and compliance issues.
Prepare project and Kiewit required reports and communication of environmental risks to project management.
Identify wetland and sensitive environmental areas for protection and fencing in advance of construction activities.

Minimum undergraduate degree in an environmental health or engineering field.
Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation.
Qualified Environmental Professional designation is preferred.
10+ years' experience managing design and construction environmental compliance for large scale construction projects (OGC or EPC experience would be ideal).
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
