Melt/Cast Metallurgist

Description

• Lead and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
• Develop and optimize operating procedures to improve safety, quality, efficiency, yield, productivity, and cost.
• Minimize production variability and coordinate with suppliers to create specialized steel grades.
• Provide training to operating and maintenance teammates and offer metallurgical assistance to customers.

Requirements

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy, Material Science Engineering, or a similar technical field. Five years minimum experience in steelmaking.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous SBQ experience.

• Travel moderately as required by the role.
• Hold a BS in Metallurgy, Materials Science Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Bring at least 5 years of steelmaking experience.
• Preferred: prior SBQ experience.
