The role includes leading and mentoring a structural engineering team on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades to existing nuclear power plants.
As a member of an engineering and design team, you will work on a wide range of projects for various clients. Responsibilities include preparing, reviewing, and guiding design calculations, developing specifications, and coordinating with designers on drawing development.
You will oversee the structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Joining Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group means contributing to clean, carbon‑free energy projects, including small modular reactors, advanced reactor technology, and plant life‑extension initiatives, while upholding safety, innovation, and sustainability.
The position may require travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
The role requires a BSCE with an emphasis in Structural Engineering, at least ten years of experience in designing and analyzing industrial, heavy‑commercial, or nuclear facility structures, and proficiency with structural analysis software and design codes. Strong written and verbal communication skills and a PE or SE license are essential.
Preferred qualifications include a MSCE degree and experience providing on‑site construction support.
