This role is crucial in guaranteeing zero defect products in the New Installation and Modernization lines of business. Additionally, the Director of Quality is tasked with fostering a culture of continuous improvement and building quality into processes within the organization.
The Director of Quality is responsible for managing and supervising the quality service provided to customers, ensuring the correct implementation of the company’s current policies and standards (KPIs, processes, systems, and tools).
This role will have to be a role model in engaging and collaborating across the entire product organization with various stakeholders: Engineering, industrialization, supply chain, production, logistics and jobsite installation.
- Conduct prior analyses for customer complaints, initiate corrections, and coordinate replacement orders as needed.
- Track Quality KPIs, identify performance gaps, and implement root cause analysis and closed-loop corrective actions.
- Serve as the main contact for customers in the event of quality deviations in the field and manage official claims through TKE's claim tools.
- Lead and participate in quality-related meetings with customers to improve communication and collaboration.
- Manage supplier qualification processes in accordance with TKE standards to ensure the quality of all supplied products and services.
- Ensure consistent quality of both internally manufactured and externally sourced components through inspections, testing, and process audits.
- Ensure the implementation, certification, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Integrated Quality and Environmental Management System (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001), guaranteeing compliance with all applicable standards and certifications.
- Promote quality awareness and continuous learning across the organization through training in quality tools, systems, and best practices.
- Drive quality in new product development (SPDP/APQP), ensuring right-first-time delivery before market release.
- Ensure product reliability and consistency through quality planning, monitoring, and corrective action management.
- Oversee the final quality of elevator & escalators deliveries and maintenance services, ensuring compliance with standards and customer expectations.
- Define quality clauses in supplier agreements, monitor supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with Purchasing and PDC teams.
- Act as Quality Lead in global committees and coordinate with BU-level quality teams to share learnings and align practices.
- Promote and implement structured improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and 8D problem solving.
- Influence decision-making in business areas by applying technical expertise, ensuring alignment with internal quality policies and standards.
- Manage and improve Quality processes, measuring and controlling key indicators for elevator manufacturing, delivery, and service performance.
- Design and implement robust quality control systems to ensure the reliability and repeatability of product performance.
- Lead the Manufacturing Quality organization by building a customer-focused, competent, and responsive team aligned with the company’s, BU, and Group’s strategic objectives.
- Guide and support the team technically, ensuring alignment with standards and encouraging a culture of ownership and excellence.
- Participate in and lead DFMEA, PFMEA, and CTQ/CTS management throughout the design and production lifecycle.
- Lead product and process “Lessons Learned” and best practice initiatives to support future project development.
- Establish clear reporting processes for internal teams and customers to provide visibility into quality performance and actions.
- Lead industrialization and supplier onboarding, including EQ audits and technical requirement transfer.
- Support the organization in achieving operational excellence through a global vision of quality and its impact across the value chain.
- Manage, develop, and motivate the Quality team through clear performance evaluation, targeted training, and professional development.
- Ensure fulfillment of quality milestones and deliverables within cross-functional development projects.
- Define, implement, and monitor quality objectives, KPIs, and complaint policies, ensuring internal resolution and driving continuous improvement.
- Ensure the delivery of Supplier Quality deliverables in SPDP (Strategic Product Development Process) projects.
- Lead continuous improvement programs based on field feedback, customer input, and lessons learned.
