Data Engineering Associate

Overview

Develop and maintain Azure-based data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Databricks.

Tasks

-Participate in DevOps practices: Assist in the deployment of data pipelines by participating in CI/CD processes and following established DevOps best practices. -Ensure data quality: Help implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data. -Support data processing with Python: Utilize Python and basic PySpark for data processing, cleansing, and transformation tasks within Azure Databricks notebooks. -Perform SQL tasks: Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and analysis from modern data warehouses and databases. -Contribute to data pipeline development: Assist in the design, construction, and maintenance of ETL/ELT data pipelines using Python and Azure services, working under the guidance of senior engineers. -Document processes: Support the team by creating and maintaining basic documentation of data processes, models, and workflows. -Troubleshoot and monitor: Assist with monitoring data pipelines and troubleshooting data flow issues in development and production environments. -Learn and apply cloud services: Develop foundational knowledge and hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics. -Take ownership: Take ownership of assigned tasks and see them through to completion with attention to detail. -Collaborate with teams: Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and senior data engineers to understand data needs and deliver solutions.

What You Bring

-This role works on-site from Ascent's Encino offices 2-3 days/week and remotely from southern California otherwise. -Teamwork and communication: Work effectively with the team, communicating progress and proactively asking questions when needed. -Adaptability: Show the ability to quickly adapt to new data technologies and contribute to process improvements. -Gain version control experience: Use Git for version control to manage code and collaborate with the engineering team. -Full-time, 40 hours per week; must be available for occasional overtime. -Take initiative to learn: Demonstrate curiosity and a proactive attitude toward learning new tools and methodologies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. -Knowledge of CI/CD -2+ years of hands-on experience with Databricks, Python, SQL, Azure Data factory, ADLS, GitHub, ETL/ELT process
