Description

The Director of Accounting supports the VP‑Controller in overseeing worldwide accounting and financial reporting functions, reporting directly to the VP‑Controller and ensuring the integrity of the company’s financial information.

The role is based in an office setting and requires the use of standard office equipment to perform daily accounting and finance duties.

• Supervise daily operations of corporate accounting/finance, including general ledger, cost accounting, accounts payable, and credit teams.
• Ensure accuracy of the domestic general ledger, journal entries, and supporting worksheets.
• Develop and maintain detailed accounting systems such as GL, AP, AR, cost accounting, project accounting, fixed assets, and R&D tracking.
• Oversee timely and accurate closing of domestic and consolidated books for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting periods.
• Prepare all financial filings for shareholders and regulatory agencies (SEC, NYSE, etc.).
• Manage external auditors and consultants to ensure compliance.
• Prepare, review, and distribute monthly and year‑to‑date financial statements.
• Collaborate with the Director of Financial Analysis to investigate unusual items and understand key variances.
• Maintain bank accounts and implement internal controls over cash transactions.
• Assist with tax filings in coordination with external tax consultants.
• Coordinate audit work papers and supervise external audits of corporate financials and benefit plans.
• Minimize financial risk through effective credit and collection procedures to support cash flow.
• Document key procedures and maintain internal control systems, including SOX Section 404 compliance.
• Ensure adherence to the Company Code of Business Conduct.
• Develop cost accounting and inventory controls, analyze variances against standard costs, and maintain adequate inventory oversight.

Requirements

• CPA required; bachelor’s degree in accounting (master’s preferred) and 10+ years of professional accounting experience.
• Advanced expertise in SEC and US GAAP reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and financial modules of integrated ERP systems.
• Strong leadership skills to develop, motivate, and guide teams toward successful outcomes.
• Ability to drive operational decisions, set strategic direction, and execute priorities effectively.
