Provides guidance, direction, coaching, and support to direct reports to maximize individual and overall department performance
Working with Regional Quality Managers, leads continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, and productivity through management of the Opportunities for Improvement (OFI) Program
On non-nuclear projects, the Director of Quality may maintain a matrix reporting relationship with quality-oriented co-workers.
Directs Internal and Supplier Audits related to work quality
Maintains the Nuclear Approved Suppliers List
Reviews nuclear non-conformances, audit results, and their respective corrective actions; determines possible trends, and performs annual Management Reviews evaluating the effectiveness of the NQA1 program
In regions that have Regional Quality Managers, the Director of Quality provides support and coaching for direct report Regional Quality Managers
Manages formal Nuclear Qualification and Certification processes for inspectors, auditors, and those performing special processes
Publishes a monthly newsletter related to continuous improvement
Supervises, trains, evaluates, and develops direct reports
With Regional Quality Managers, ensures that company and regional quality goals and objectives are identified and met
Annually presents the Quality Business Plan to leadership and gains alignment with overall company strategy, goals, and objectives
Generates Monthly OFI Reports that quantify cost and savings related to reported OFIs
Leads the conversion of OFIs to written procedures and practice documents, leveraging both lessons learned, and improvement ideas initiated by Baker Co-workers
Ensures required NQA1 central functions (such as completed nuclear project records storage); provides end of project verification and validation of records and ensures the method of storage meets the requirements of Baker’s NQA-1 program
Leads the development and approval of the nuclear NQA1 Program, Project QAPDs, QAPs, and Inspection and Test Plans
Collaborates with HR to ensure compliance with employment laws, labor laws, and related Company policies; may be responsible for conducting training or coordinating workshops related to such compliance
Provides guidance, training, coaching, to Project Managers,
Supports Business Development and generates quality related proposal content
Supports development and implementation of project specific quality plans, when required by our clients or on selected projects that Baker leadership requires formal quality management programs to be implemented
Provides trending summaries to leadership, recommends improvement strategies and initiatives designed to mitigate losses and leverage savings.
Supports leadership in the identification of quality metrics and provides quarterly reports on the identified metrics, such as quality program performance, opportunities for improvement summaries, defect cost, etc.
Leads the development of the Baker Best Practices SharePoint site
With Regional Quality Managers, the Director of Quality collaboratively updates the Quality Business Plan on an annual basis. Business plan includes improvement strategies, company and regional quality implementation plans, budgets, assessments of effectiveness, etc.

Strong improvement project management skills and ability to support implementation of strategic company wide and regional safety, quality, and productivity improvement initiatives

Experience reading and understanding design drawings
Knowledge and understanding of 10CFR50, App. B, ASME NQA-1 and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ISO Programs, etc.
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, scientific, or construction-related discipline and at least 15 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to convert problem statements into improvement strategies that include implementation plans, working documents, and engagement events, as needed to imbed change
Ability to direct work and evaluate strengths and weaknesses of co-workers
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Ability to understand organizational capacity, specific resources, underlying barriers, and threats, as needed to develop realistic improvement and risk mitigation plans
Good listening skills and ability to gather accurate data and present concise improvement and risk mitigation strategies to leadership
