The Civil Engineer Student/Summer Intern position is a temporary practicum in civil engineering. Interns will assist professional engineering staff by performing tasks such as analyzing data, preparing cost estimates, creating design documents, meeting with clients, coordinating permits, tracking progress, researching regulations, and other duties as assigned.
Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited bachelor's degree program in engineering. Required skills include reading and interpreting technical documents, strong written and oral communication, mathematical proficiency, problem‑solving reasoning, and knowledge of database, design, internet, project management, spreadsheet, and word‑processing software. A valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 30 % of the time are required.
The role requires regular sitting, use of hands, speaking and hearing, occasional standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 25 lb. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. The work setting is a temperature‑controlled office; travel for meetings may occur in various weather conditions, with moderate noise levels.
