Description

The role involves locating underground utilities for clients and property owners in compliance with 811 dig laws, using maps, GIS data, and electronic equipment, marking utilities, documenting work with reports and photos, and investigating any utility damage.

• Locate underground utilities using 811 tickets, utility maps, GIS data, and electronic equipment.
• Mark utility locations with flags or paint and record positions via a mobile app with photos.
• Prepare reports, forms, memos, and photographic documentation for each locate.
• Investigate and document excavations that cause utility damage.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation and maintain 75%+ travel availability.
• Keep equipment and vehicle clean, in good working order, and tobacco‑free.
• Maintain small‑ to medium‑sized trucks and associated equipment.
• Complete all required paperwork and documentation accurately.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

Requirements

Successful candidates must be comfortable using a mobile app to record marks, participate in an on‑call rotation, travel extensively (75%+), maintain equipment and a tobacco‑free vehicle, hold a valid driver’s license and DOT certification, pass a drug screen, and be able to work varying schedules, overtime, and all weather conditions.

• Follow 811 law and best locate practices; read and interpret as‑built civil engineering drawings.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.

• Pass a drug screening, hold a valid driver’s license, and obtain a DOT physical certification.
