The Senior Commissioning Authority will lead full‑range commissioning (Cx) efforts on complex building projects, including retro‑commissioning and energy assessments. Responsibilities cover preparing Cx plans and specifications, managing web‑based documentation, conducting design reviews, leading construction meetings, performing site observations, developing and executing functional tests, handling issue management, and completing post‑occupancy follow‑up.
- Manage multiple commissioning projects, overseeing client interface, schedule, and budget
- Lead contracts with a minimum value of $500,000
- Perform commissioning reviews of construction documents and equipment submittals
- Develop commissioning plans, reports, pre‑functional checklists, and test procedures
- Assist and conduct functional testing of building systems
- Improve commissioning processes and establish best practices
- Analyze building operation controls and sequences
- Communicate proactively with diverse client stakeholders
- Conduct field observations, write detailed reports, and lead commissioning meetings
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Supervise and mentor junior staff in a team‑oriented environment
- Utilize Cx industry standards (ASHRAE, ACG, BCxA) and relevant codes (CEC Title 24, IECC, NEC, etc.)
- Review mechanical, controls, plumbing, and electrical construction documents
- Follow construction industry safety practices and procedures
- Troubleshoot field devices, control hardware, and software
- Perform functional testing of MEP systems and coordinate non‑standard test scopes

- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills with clients
- Apply knowledge of HVAC, electrical, building automation, and lighting control systems
- Understand electrical, fire, and life‑safety system requirements
- Proficient with MS Office, PDF editors (Bluebeam, Adobe), and online project‑management tools
- Travel up to 30% as project needs dictate
- Hold a BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 7 years (8 preferred) experience in commissioning or MEP consulting
- Preferred Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification or recognized commissioning certification
- Ability and desire to obtain a recognized building commissioning certification
