The Project Cost Analyst role supports Project Managers by coordinating cost analysis and controls across multiple projects. Responsibilities include overseeing cost reporting, monitoring budgets, and ensuring accurate financial representation of intermediate‑level projects under supervision.
Key duties involve entering budgets into AEP corporate systems, providing forecast updates, performing variance analysis, and tracking key performance indicators. The analyst also creates work orders, collaborates with external contractors and vendors, supports SOX verification, prepares budget and cash‑flow forecasts, conducts estimate‑vs‑actual analyses, and maintains project system records such as unvouchered liabilities.
Qualifications vary by level. An Associate‑level analyst may enter with a qualified associate’s or bachelor’s degree, or with a high school diploma plus two years of relevant experience. The Analyst level requires a bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience or an associate’s degree with three years; the Senior level demands four years of experience with a high school diploma, six years with an associate’s degree, or four years with a bachelor’s degree.
