Perform computer modeling and sizing of structures and transmission line components.
Creation of comprehensive drawing packages within the utility infrastructure industry for transmission line systems.
Completing and reviewing design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
Design of high voltage (69 kV to 500 kV) transmission lines using PLS-CADD.
Organizing and maintaining all revisions of project drawings, plot files, and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner.
Applying design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
Analyzing reports, drawings, and tests, to plan and design projects.
Incorporate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into transmission design and layouts.
Completing a full range of drawing production work, including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations on substantial variety and complexity of non-routine assignments.
Producing initial rough designs, sketches, redlines, or mark-ups on ongoing projects.
Working on various assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components, and refining rough sketches.
Providing mentorship for younger power engineers.
Preparing engineering drawings from rough sketches or general engineering and design information (verbal instructions and notes) using CAD software programs.
Coordinating with Survey/Geotech/Manufacturers.
Participating in site walks for current projects. Less than 10% travel.

4+ years of design experience in the Power industry, consulting background preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Comprehend and interpret safety codes, utility standards, and regulations (NESC, ASCE, IEEE).
Experience with tower structures (pole, lattice, guyed).
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
Thrives in a work environment where one collaboratives with other team members (Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve appropriate design or drawing issues and accomplish objectives.
Prociency in design software to develop the design deliverables. Must be proficient with PLS CADD and AutoCAD.
PE Licensure or EIT working towards taking the PE exam.
Experience developing estimates and budgets.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
