Overview

Oversee heavy civil construction projects, managing safety, schedule, cost, and staff.

Tasks

-Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management meeting for communication) -Ensure that all performance evaluations and completed in a timely fashion for direct reports -Oversee and approve the monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections -Mentor and help to grow fellow Kiewit staff -Develop a program to maintain good client relations involving staff on site -Review, approve and negotiate change orders -Maintain daily diary for record keeping purposes -Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Initiate and attend supplementary and regular meeting with client for problem resolution and planning -Review and approve the balance of Foremen, journeymen and laborer’s composite labor rates -Review and approve or reject promotions up to General Foremen. -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover -Recommend, where appropriate, organizational, policy and procedural or staff changes

-Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time -Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives -Previous knowledge/experience in heavy civil construction setting required -Regular, reliable attendance -Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity -Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate craft performance -Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills -Experience with heavy equipment, earthwork, utilities, traffic control, paving and signage -Work productively and meet deadlines timely -Must be able to read and interpret drawings, plans and specifications for railroad / transit construction and maintenance requirements -Must be willing to relocate temporarily for training or permanently on an as-needed basis -A valid driver’s license -Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, union agreements and jurisdictional issues, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents -Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment -5+ years’ work experience in the construction industry, with at least 3+ years in a supervisory role overseeing projects such as roads, bridges, dams, water/wastewater treatment plants etc -Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
