Director, Corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety

Description

• Develop and execute an overall program management and change management strategy
• Manage remediation sites: strategy, budget, and assessments
• Establish effective partnerships with business unit operations teams, collaborating cross-functionally, to ensure success and results attainment
• Direct, manage and inspire a team of talented EHS leads and external consultants
• Oversee administration of audits of the company’s facilities and compliance with implementation of the audit findings
• Develop and execute a strategy to centralize disparate fields of data to streamline reporting efforts
• Maintain and improve policies, guidelines, and operational procedures related to EHS
• Prioritize and continually improve the company’s EHS compliance strategies and management systems
• Develop and implement plans to achieve environmental sustainability goals for energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, solid waste, recyclables, & water stewardship
• Promote a shared vision for EHS Excellence
• Develop, support, lead, and execute strategies to reduce:
• Implement programs/processes to ensure compliance with domestic & international EHS legislation
• Manages multiple tasks simultaneously; anticipates and plans around obstacles
• Identify and monitor safety and environmental regulatory changes that could affect the company’s operations and implement appropriate engagement and/or mitigation strategies
• Teach and mentor other EHS professionals

Requirements

• Manufacturing industry knowledge and experience
• Working knowledge of Mexican and Canadian environmental regulatory programs (preferred)
• Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with at least five years developing and executing corporate-wide EHS programs
• Working knowledge of safety and environmental compliance and sustainability data aggregation, sustainability reporting, and verification
• Extensive knowledge of applicable US federal and state EHS regulations
• Well organized, resourceful, and planful; effective and efficient at organizing multiple resources to get things done; meets objectives with time and resource efficiency
• Strategic thinker, able to develop and execute a clear vision and strategy for Lennox’s EHS Department
• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, EHS, or related field is required. An advanced degree with associated credentials is preferred (PE, CSP, etc.)
• Team player, comfortable operating within a dynamic and complex organizational structure and leading through influence
• Builds and manages diverse relationships: open to differences; effective up, down, sideways; quick to find common ground; treat differences fairly and equitably; treat everyone as a customer
• Manages ambiguity when things are not certain or the way forward is not clear
• Experience working with consultants and managing financial reserves to resolve legacy soil and groundwater remediation issues
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent analytical, project management, presentation, and influencing skills
• Proven track record managing a team
• Willingness to travel up to 25%
• Proven success setting and meeting operations EHS goals, including safety, energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, solid waste, and water use reduction
• Situational adaptability: adapts in real time to match shifting demands
• Demonstrated project management experience in a corporate function
