Conventional Generation Principal Engineer

Description

• Work with industry leaders
• Oversee installation, FAT/SAT, start-up, and troubleshooting of electrical systems for turbine and engine plants.
• Selecting and specifying appropriate electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, motors, and instrumentation, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards.
• Collaborating with mechanical, control, and other engineers to ensure the smooth integration of electrical systems with other plant components.
• Ensuring that all electrical work complies with relevant safety regulations and industry standards, such as those from the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Making sure to complete assigned projects on time while adhering to project quality and budget objectives.
• Develop one-lines, load lists, cable schedules, grounding and protection diagrams; design power distribution, control, and protection schemes.

Requirements

• 10+ years with electrical systems in power generation or industrial facilities.
• Hands-on experience with major OEMs (e.g., GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Solar Turbines; Wärtsilä, Caterpillar, MAN).
• Familiarity with simple-cycle, combined-cycle, CHP, and reciprocating engine configurations.
• Demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, and client-facing professionalism.
• B.S. in Electrical Engineering (power systems focus); M.S. is preferred. Working knowledge of mechanical/controls aspects of turbines and RICE gensets is a plus
• 10+ years of electrical design/consulting experience for gas turbine/cogeneration and/or reciprocating engine power plants.
