The agency was established under the Sustainable Energy Act.
It is government‑funded and invests in research, grants and the rollout of clean‑energy technologies.
Over its history, it has overseen major programmes like national building retrofits and community energy schemes.
The agency finances and guides projects from homes to industries—covering solar, offshore wind, electric vehicle infrastructure and heat‑power systems.
It also manages research into marine energy, floating wind and ocean‑energy innovation pilot projects.
SEAI publishes Ireland’s official energy statistics and shapes national energy policy.
SEAI’s annual spending runs into tens of millions, funding tens of thousands of retrofits and grants across sectors.
A standout fact: it curates Ireland’s Ocean Energy Portal to centralize marine‑renewables development data.
SEAI bridges government, citizens, communities and business in Ireland’s clean‑energy transition.
