• Recruit and hire service technicians
• Supervise and develop technician workforce
• Assist Operations Manager with forecasting technician staffing needs
• Ensure technician productivity meets or exceeds goals
• Maintain market work level through site surveys and sales support
• Handle escalated field and service issues
• Develop training plans using company materials
• Provide technical support and ensure quality of work
• Perform ride‑alongs with technicians
• Conduct annual technician reviews with VP approval
• Serve as a positive role model and image for the technician group
• Enforce safety standards and company policies
• Maintain local customer relationships with RSM and Account Managers
• Lead weekly service meetings, communicate goals, and present performance scorecards
• Recognize top performers and inspect vans for cleanliness and proper fluids
• Review safety topics, new customer requirements, callbacks, and scheduling feedback
• Maneuver a 32‑foot ladder (~96 lb) within rating limits
• Haul equipment and tools to rooftops via ladders
• Drive up to 8‑10 hours per day for service calls

Requirements

The Area Service Manager reports to the Operations Manager and leads a team of commercial service technicians. The ideal candidate is a technical leader with proven high‑quality craftsmanship, strong communication skills, and a commitment to self‑improvement and education. Experience managing commercial service technicians and a dedication to safety and company policies are essential. This role combines technical expertise with effective workforce supervision.

The role requires significant physical activity, including lifting up to 100 lb, frequent ladder use, extensive kneeling and squatting, and extended driving periods of up to 8‑10 hours per day. Candidates must be able to handle equipment and tools on rooftops and maintain a professional appearance while traveling as needed.

• Minimum 10 years HVAC service experience; management experience a plus
• Strong technical knowledge to support technicians and customers
• Ability to conduct professional customer conversations and resolve concerns
