Key duties include accurate project revenue and cost forecasting to meet corporate profitability goals, coordinating budgets with estimators and the project controls group, and leading estimating efforts for vertically integrated projects. The role also manages resources to stay on schedule, participates in bid review and schedule development, and establishes comprehensive kickoff plans. Communication is maintained among project engineers, foremen, superintendents, and construction managers to ensure efficient, profitable, and safe execution, while maintaining job controls, relationships with owners and agencies, and producing accurate construction reports.
This is a travel role that begins with training in Abilene, Texas, supporting the growing solar industry. The position oversees the direction, completion, and financial outcome of solar projects ranging from $15 million to $49 million, with on-site responsibilities and monthly rotations home, and manages mechanical scopes on large-scale solar projects up to 500 MW.
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, business administration, or a related field is required, or equivalent heavy-civil construction experience. Candidates must have five to ten years of progressive project experience in heavy civil environments, including at least five years in paving, dirt, and grading work in private or public settings.
Applicants should possess knowledge of construction paving, underground, concrete, and grading practices, as well as an understanding of union agreements and prevailing wage issues. Strong decision-making, leadership, supervisory communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with a commitment to accuracy.
The position demands regular speaking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, and computer work, with occasional lifting of up to 50 lb and exposure to large construction equipment. The base salary range for this role is $106,950 to $177,312, with compensation adjusted for experience, skills, location, and education.
