Under limited supervision, the Instructional Technologist performs instructional support functions—including analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of training—to ensure trainees acquire the knowledge and skills needed for safe, competent job performance. The role may involve leading a limited subject area or administering a training program and being accountable for results.
The position involves identifying training needs, acting as a Subcontract Technical Representative, coordinating subcontracted personnel, budgeting, and tracking man‑hours. Responsibilities also include developing and presenting training, evaluating trainees, maintaining records, assessing training effectiveness, conducting analyses, designing curricula, creating test items, revising materials, ensuring compliance with DOE and industry standards, and providing guidance to training staff. Safety is emphasized throughout all tasks.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens with relevant education and experience ranging from a high school diploma plus 12 years experience to a BS/BA degree plus 4 years. An ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance is required; prior DOE clearance is preferred. Preferred qualifications include two or more years of training/education experience and strong knowledge of federal laws, DOE orders, and systematic training processes.
