This position designs and delivers technical training for P&C Technicians, overseeing the development, implementation, and delivery of high‑impact, cost‑effective education. Training incorporates human performance concepts, safety policies, procedures, and common work practices, and is coordinated with business unit management and corporate groups to meet organizational goals.
Key duties include directing a learning strategy, conducting needs assessments, forecasting and analyzing training requirements, and consulting with management and employees on priorities. The role schedules and communicates training calendars, leads instruction and evaluation of technical skills, and coordinates the design of curricula, manuals, job aids, and online content. It also manages vendor relationships, maintains training records in the AEP learning management system, and facilitates training projects and committees.
Three levels are offered: Technical Training Specialist Principal (PG‑8, $130,347‑$144,160), Senior (PG‑7, $124,422‑$125,034), and Staff (PG‑9, $146,730‑$169,304). All require a high school diploma/GED and a valid driver’s license, with experience ranging from nine to twelve years of technical work or equivalent training‑specialist experience. Preferred qualifications include associate degrees in Power Plant, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Technology, and a CDL may be required for certain locations.
Additional expectations include strong oral, written, and presentation skills, thorough knowledge of technical processes and safety standards, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
