The Health & Safety role provides leadership and support to operations through the development, implementation, and compliance with GFL’s Health & Safety Management System, while driving accountability at all organizational levels.
Collaboration with District Managers and Facility Supervisors is essential to deliver and improve site‑specific safety initiatives, and the position assists the H&S Manager with reporting, data sharing, and execution of corporate safety objectives.
- Provide health & safety support and leadership by developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with the GFL Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)
- Drive health and safety accountability across all organization levels
- Collaborate with District Managers and Facility Supervisors to deliver, maintain, and improve site‑specific safety initiatives
- Support the H&S Manager with report preparation and data sharing for corporate health & safety initiatives
- Lead accident and incident investigations, conduct root‑cause analysis, recommend corrective actions, and assist with implementation
- Perform regular HSMS audits and inspections, monitor and follow up on corrective actions
- Coordinate, develop, and deliver safety training
- Monitor compliance, coach supervisors/managers, and hold teams accountable for safety performance

Candidates must have at least five years of relevant experience, a related degree or professional designation, strong knowledge of EHS legislation, and proven skills in incident investigation, root‑cause analysis, and corrective‑action planning.
The role requires a clean Class 5 driver’s license, willingness to travel up to 50 % within New Brunswick, and the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt to a fast‑paced environment.
Pre‑employment requirements include drug and alcohol testing, a valid driver’s license with a three‑year abstract, and readiness to travel throughout New Brunswick.

- Ability to develop hazard assessments and safe operating procedures
- Knowledge of industrial services (tank cleaning, high‑pressure washing, confined spaces, hydro‑excavating) considered an asset
- Knowledge of the hazardous waste industry considered an asset
- Clean Class 5 driver’s license (driver’s abstract required)
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, changing environment; work independently and as a team; manage competing priorities; flexible schedule
