Office Technician - Part Time

Description

• May perform construction inspector duties as needed.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, support and build others on the team and across disciplines/offices.
• Be responsive to others and share information to improve efficiency and help others achieve goals; listen and engage in productive and critical debate.
• Suggest new ideas and processes; stay informed of developments in practice areas; view obstacles as opportunities.
• Obtain and maintain the required certifications for each project as needed (i.e. Traffic Control, Material Testing, Paint or Weld Inspection).
• Process change orders and work with project/design engineer to resolve issues.
• Ensure project compliance with government regulations, such as checking EEO reports, to ensure project employment meets women and minority requirements and verifying pre-vailing wage rates.
• Process pay estimates for contractors.
• Serve as the go-to person relating to electronic signatures, ProjectWise file locations, data management.
• Maintain project records (correspondence, change orders, meeting minutes, material certificates, quantities of work, EEO, and payroll records, etc.).
• Collect data and review calculations and material certifications.
• Create project records and compile daily reports.

Requirements

• Possess Computerized Office Technician Certificate or obtain within 1 year.
• 3+ years of experience as an Office Technician, Construction Inspector, or related field required.
• Prior experience with Field Book required; AASHTOWare software experience is a plus.
• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering technology or related field preferred.
• MDOT Prevailing Wage Training and MDOT Materials Acceptance class are preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
• Ability to perform calculations and solve math problems.
• Possess certificate in bituminous (hot mix), concrete, density testing, or aggregate gradation preferred.
