The Lead Product Owner for the Shopping Experience on Caterpillar’s Rental platform will shape the strategy and execution of the digital shopping ecosystem. The role drives platform enhancements that improve usability, scalability and performance, ensuring a seamless journey for dealers and customers across Rental channels. It also serves as the data steward, maintaining governance and consistency across multiple systems.
You will define the product vision and roadmap, own the backlog, and collaborate with engineering, UX, content and analytics teams to deliver high‑quality shopping solutions. Responsibilities include guiding website design, managing CMS content, resolving data inconsistencies, supporting dealer onboarding, and establishing KPIs to measure shopping performance. Change‑management activities such as training, documentation and stakeholder communication are also part of the role.
- Define and drive the product vision and roadmap for the Cat Rental Shopping Experience.
- Own and prioritize the shopping product backlog, aligning work with business outcomes and compliance.
- Lead website design direction, collaborating with UX/UI on design systems, information architecture and templates.
- Configure and maintain shopping data and content in the CMS to ensure accurate dealer‑product relationships.
- Own the AEM‑backed shopping content strategy, including SEO and upper‑funnel marketing content.
- Identify and resolve data inconsistencies impacting product discovery, pricing, availability and checkout.
- Support dealer onboarding with tooling, workflows and best‑practice guidance for catalog maintenance.
- Design and approve content/workflow templates and metadata structures to optimize performance and personalization.
- Capture feedback from sales, marketing, dealer operations and support teams and translate it into prioritized features.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert for Cat Rental shopping and CMS, providing technical guidance and training.
- Define, derive and analyze KPIs for shopping journeys and CMS publishing efficiency (e.g., search CTR, PDP conversion).
- Partner with Business Analysts to convert requirements into actionable specs, data contracts and acceptance criteria.
- Manage change‑management for dealer digital initiatives, including training, documentation and stakeholder communication.

The position requires strong business analysis capabilities, critical‑thinking and effective communication, as well as experience with software problem management and user acceptance testing. Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field and have proven digital product‑management experience, particularly in e‑commerce or shopping platforms. Desired skills include UX/UI best practices, content lifecycle management, CMS (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager) expertise, PIM integration knowledge, and proficiency with Microsoft tools and Azure DevOps; product‑owner certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of business analysis techniques and tools to identify needs and recommend value‑driven solutions.
- Ability to make critical decisions based on informed judgment and thorough analysis.
- Effective communication skills for transmitting and interpreting ideas across diverse audiences.
- Expertise in software problem management and resolution for installed software products.
- Understanding of software product business aspects, vision and lifecycle management.
- Experience designing, implementing and evaluating user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, marketing, communications, engineering or related field.
- Proven digital product‑management experience, especially in e‑commerce or shopping platforms.
- Strong collaboration across marketing, engineering, UX and business teams to align capabilities with strategic goals.
- Deep understanding of UX/UI best practices, responsive design and accessibility standards.
- Experience streamlining marketing operations and improving data consistency across platforms.
- Expertise in content lifecycle management, taxonomy, metadata and workflow automation.
- Hands‑on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or similar CMS platforms.
- Excellent oral and written communication; adept at stakeholder management and navigating complex situations.
- Working knowledge of PIM systems and their integration with CMS for unified product content.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and Azure DevOps for planning, backlog management and release tracking.
- Product Owner certification (e.g., CSPO, SAFe PO/PM) or strong knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
