Civil Design Group Manager

Description

The Civil Design Group Manager will report to Randy VanTilburg and be based in Cleveland, Ohio, overseeing projects in Columbus, Ohio. This full‑time position is responsible for leading design teams, managing workloads, and coordinating with other MSG service areas to ensure timely, on‑budget delivery.

• Lead and supervise multiple civil design teams in daily operations.
• Determine staffing needs and allocate work to balance team workloads.
• Collaborate with project managers to monitor project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Track group utilization, billable hours, and overall workload.
• Identify additional staffing or training requirements with Civil Service Line leaders.
• Mentor staff and support office and company growth initiatives.
• Prepare proposals, contracts, and manage project execution.
• Ensure timely completion and delivery of work tasks.
• Coordinate with MSG professionals across surveying, environmental, geotechnical, structural, traffic, transportation, landscape architecture, grant writing, and construction administration.
• Provide mentorship and training to junior staff.

Requirements

• Demonstrate experience managing multiple civil design engineers, projects, and disciplines.
• Apply a proven management process or style.
• Possess private development project experience.
