Team Leader - Community Education

Description

• Collaborate with post‑secondary students to enhance streams and riparian zones in Surrey.
• Train and supervise up to 15 secondary‑school students in field and outreach activities.
• Deliver environment‑focused education and public outreach, including community events and resource development.
• Plan, implement and oversee daily project activities.
• Support field tasks such as fish‑habitat assessments, invasive‑plant removal, stream‑bank stabilization, planting and water‑quality sampling.
• Assist in creating and executing social‑media, advertising and marketing materials.
• Track project deliverables and provide regular progress updates to supervisors.
• Prepare and submit summary reports.
• Submit a single PDF with resume and cover letter to the SHaRP Program Coordinator at [email protected].
• Indicate the desired work term (4 or 7 months) in the application.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a post‑secondary degree or diploma program.
• Available to work weekends, evenings, and the full 4‑ or 7‑month term.
• Hold a valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence and pass a criminal record check.
• Experience in educational or communications roles, preferably environmental.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a friendly, professional demeanor.
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
• Strong work ethic; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Capable of moderate to high physical outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Fluency in two or more languages is an asset.
• Knowledge of native/invasive plant management, ecology, fish‑habitat restoration or social‑media marketing is a plus.
