The role is an Associate Director within the Transmission & Distribution team in the UK, responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams on high‑voltage and extra‑high‑voltage cable system projects across the full project lifecycle. The position works with transmission system operators, distribution network operators, private developers, and other global energy clients, managing high‑value initiatives in both domestic and international markets.
- Lead delivery of cable system design and consultancy services across the project lifecycle, from feasibility to commissioning.
- Act as technical lead and client interface for major cable system packages, ensuring timely, high‑quality delivery.
- Develop and review HV cable designs, including routing, thermal and electromagnetic analysis, burial risk assessments, and protection strategies.
- Plan complex installations, covering cable pulling, jointing, short‑circuit and cleat calculations, especially in subsea, tunnel, and urban settings.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs (civil, structural, substation, marine, OHL) to produce integrated solutions.
- Provide technical governance and assurance aligned with IEC, CIGRÉ, and National Grid Transmission Procedures.
- Oversee FAT/SAT, cable manufacturing inspections, and installation verification activities.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering technical development and supporting performance management.
- Contribute to business development through proposal writing, client presentations, and building long‑term partner relationships.
- Drive innovation, digital delivery, and best practices across the cables discipline.

- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or progression toward chartership.
- National Grid CDAE or equivalent cable system certification.
- Experience with cable system software tools such as CYMCAP, WinCable, ElectraMagnetics Studio, or PLAXIS.
- Strong project management capabilities and commercial awareness.
