As a Sr. Structural Engineer reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will perform tasks on heavy/highway civil construction and structural engineering projects. Responsibilities include structural analysis and design of reinforced and post‑tensioned concrete, steel, timber, deep and gravity foundations, earth‑retaining structures, crane pick plans, and bridge decks. You will ensure designs conform to applicable codes and client requirements, prepare calculations, engineering reports, memoranda, design submittals, and draft construction drawings for AutoCAD drafters. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related) from an accredited institution and at least 10 years of relevant experience, with bridge experience mandatory. A PE license in NY or NJ is required (NY preferred); a Master’s in structural engineering is preferred. Proficiency with structural FEM software such as MIDAS or RISA, and solid knowledge of Excel, Mathcad, and codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC, NDS, AREMA, AASHTO, AWS) is essential. Membership in professional organizations and ongoing professional development for the PE license are expected. Strong communication, multitasking, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment are required; experience in the NYC/metropolitan area is a plus.
