Description

The Lighting Designer III (DT III) role is the third level in the Designer career track, responsible for designing utility systems such as overhead and underground circuits, lighting, and commercial, industrial and residential development, as well as gas and generation systems. The position includes field data collection and assistance with storm restoration, handling moderately complex design projects with more independence than DT II and interacting with clients, customers and construction crews. The role primarily works in an office environment but requires significant field work, which may expose the employee to extreme weather conditions.

• Advancing knowledge of reliability schemes
• Independently perform field data collection and project inspections for moderately complex projects
• Produce high‑quality CAD drawings and material lists for simple projects and support supervision on complex tasks
• Document all required communications on designed projects as per training
• Provide guidance and training to peers and newer designers on simple projects
• Prepare permitting documentation independently as needed
• Communicate with clients and participate in site meetings under oversight

Requirements

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent with four years relevant experience, or an associate’s degree with three years experience, and a valid driver’s license.

• CAD experience
• Power Distribution experience
• Pole Analysis software
• WMS experience (e.g., Maximo)
• Understanding of Electrical Components
• Circuit knowledge of electrical components
• Advanced distribution techniques (switchgear, capacitor bank)
