Junior Estimator

Description

• Conduct quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications.
• Utilize historical data, cost database, and current market trends to support understanding of labor, material, and equipment costs.
• Prepare preliminary budgets and detailed estimates on specific work scopes assigned from Sr/Chief Estimator.
• Solicit bids and quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
• Assist in Cost Report preparation with Sr/Chief Estimator to present findings to team members or clients.
• Assist in developing cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor tasks.
• Review sketches, drawings, narratives, and/or technical specifications for thorough understanding of design intent.
• Evaluate and compare received quotes to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Work closely with Sr/Chief Estimator and Operations to ensure alignment on project goals and requirements.
• Maintain organized records of project estimates, proposals, and revisions as directed.
• Solicit subcontractors to create or maintain relationships to ensure participation in bids.

Requirements

• Ability to maintain and analyze time commitment versus deadlines.
• Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
• Basic knowledge of construction methods and materials.
• Experience in project budgets and estimating software.
• Good knowledge and understanding of computers and technology.
• Understanding of construction documents and ability to read blueprints, specifications, and other project documentation.
• Cooperative attitude and ability to collaborate with others in the office.
• Dependability in fulfilling obligations to the estimating team and company.
• Understanding of MasterFormat designation and organization in estimates.
• Understand assigned tasks and associated timeline for completion.
• Ability to utilize on-screen takeoff tools for quantity survey.
• Knowledge in project management and construction management.
• Proficiency in accubid, bidding, cost estimate, change order, and Excel.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret plans, specifications, and cost data.
• Experience with estimation software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
