Senior Substation Engineer

Description

The incumbent will also serve as the primary client liaison, providing significant face‑time and interaction, and bringing a strong business sense to the role.

Design activities must comply with applicable codes, standards, and PDG policies such as Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control.

• Prepare conceptual designs and detailed engineering scopes for complex substation projects.
• Conduct technical studies, analyze project scopes, and develop specifications for material and equipment procurement.
• Design substation facilities including site layout, bus work, ground grids, conduit, lightning protection, control house, lighting, and metering.
• Review designs for code compliance, constructability, and good engineering practice; guide discipline engineers to meet project requirements.
• Resolve site queries, attend site meetings, and perform inspections during construction.
• Maintain complete project documentation, including as‑built packages and data return information.
• Coordinate design activities with multidisciplinary teams and maintain relationships with internal groups, suppliers, and contractors.
• Mentor and guide developing engineers; lead development of design standards.

Requirements

The position requires a degree in Electrical Engineering, a Professional Engineering (PE) license, at least seven years of substation design experience, and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable MVR. A competitive salary range will be offered, commensurate with experience.

• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and Substation Design Suite; experience with WinIGS and CYMCAP is preferred.
• Strong client focus and knowledge of IEEE and ANSI codes and standards.
• Hold an Electrical Engineering degree, Professional Engineering (PE) license, and a valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR.
