The Environmental Principal Engineer will help establish and grow a new Pittsburgh branch, recruit and lead technical staff, develop client‑acquisition strategies, and oversee design projects from inception to completion while serving as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
- Assist in establishing, managing, and growing a new branch office with division and regional support.
- Recruit, build, and manage a technical staff team for office operations and project execution.
- Develop and implement client‑recruiting strategies, leveraging relationships to expand business opportunities for design projects.
- Lead project management for site assessments, remediation, emergency response, natural resources, EHS compliance, permitting, planning, and reporting assurance services.
- Support and mentor junior engineers and design/drafting staff.
- Serve as primary contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and problem‑solving.
- Participate in internal and external technical organizations.

Ideal candidates hold a four‑year degree in a related science, possess professional certifications, bring 15+ years of progressive experience managing environmental investigations and remediation projects, and have a proven record of business development and team leadership.
- 4‑year degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, civil engineering or related field.
- Professional certification highly desired (e.g., PG, LSRP, PE).
- 15+ years of progressive experience managing environmental investigation, remediation, permitting, or compliance projects, with an existing book of business.
- Proven ability to manage technical staff and project managers while cultivating client relationships.
- Strong knowledge of applicable regulations (PADEP, NJDEP, NYSEC, EPA, etc.).
- Ability to build national networks and drive cross‑collaboration.
- Cross‑training and exposure to a variety of projects.
