As Chief Engineer, you'll lead the efficient operations and maintenance of all building systems while overseeing and developing our operating staff. This critical leadership role ensures optimal building performance, tenant satisfaction, and operational excellence across all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. You'll serve as the technical expert and team leader, directly impacting our ability to deliver world‑class facility management services to our clients. When the Sr. Facilities Manager is unavailable, you'll step into that leadership role, making this position essential to our operational continuity and client success.
- Supervise and direct maintenance staff performance, including scheduling, job assignments, performance evaluations, and professional development recommendations
- Monitor and maintain all MEP systems including HVAC, boilers, electrical equipment, pumps, valves, and refrigeration systems while reviewing operational logs and performing preventive maintenance
- Coordinate with clients and tenants to schedule equipment downtime for maintenance activities and respond immediately to emergency situations and system malfunctions
- Manage construction and repair projects, oversee contracted maintenance work, and ensure timely completion of warranty obligations and equipment installations
- Develop and implement site-specific training programs for engineering personnel, providing hands‑on instruction in maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and troubleshooting techniques
- Maintain adequate inventory levels of tools and supplies, prepare purchase orders, and manage departmental budget sections while recommending facility improvements for annual O&M budgets
- Support meeting setups, manage work order tickets, and ensure compliance with hazardous materials storage and disposal policies

- High school diploma with minimum 2 years in mechanical trades or equivalent technical education
- 5+ years of facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision experience with proven managerial background
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, fluid handling/pumping, mechanical systems, and welding operations
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills with excellent oral and written communication abilities
- Proficiency in basic computer applications including MS Office, email, and facility management software
- Ability to analyze complex MEP systems, diagnose problems, and implement corrective actions in emergency situations
- Current or ability to obtain Fire, Life Safety Manager certification within 12 months
- HVAC and electrical engineering training or formal technical education
- Certification of Fitness in Fuel Oil Piping & Storage (P98) and Citywide Fire Systems (S12-14)
- Experience with facility remodeling and new construction project management
- Advanced technology skills for property operations engagement and system monitoring
- Track record of "exceeds expectations" performance evaluations (for internal candidates)
- Experience developing training matrices and professional development programs for technical staff
Benefits
The position is on‑site in Stamford, CT, with standard business hours. This role does not provide visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Compensation is estimated between $155,000 and $159,000 per year, with final packages determined by qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
