Urban Rest Stop Team Lead

Description

• Ensure the Rest Stop remains clean, safe, and welcoming at all times.
• Schedule daily shower and laundry appointments for patrons.
• Monitor overall facility use and patron behavior continuously.
• Provide personal assistance to patrons whenever needed.
• Distribute personal care items upon request or when donations are available.
• Manage shower towel distribution and return according to procedures.
• Enforce Rest Stop rules and procedures to maintain safety and security.
• Mediate and de‑escalate conflicts while modeling appropriate problem‑solving strategies.
• Implement Rest Stop security procedures when required.
• Document incidents in the Daily Log and submit incident reports to the URS Manager.
• Provide patrons with information about community resources as needed.
• Contact external agencies such as Public Health or Seattle Police for specific patron assistance.
• Wear a mask at all times while on‑site.
• Maintain a daily activity log and incident reports for the Rest Stop.
• Notify the URS Manager promptly of any incidents, formally or informally.
• Order, stock, and secure consumable items and cleaning supplies; manage inventory efficiently.
• Stock and sort donated hygiene supplies such as razors, diapers, and toothbrushes.
• Collect and update patron usage data daily in the database.
• Follow procedures outlined in the Urban Rest Stop Procedures Manual.
• Submit timely written reports of incidents, maintenance needs, and operational issues.
• Complete assigned training and meet all training deadlines.
• Follow the daily cleaning schedule and maintain a high level of facility cleanliness.
• Respond to spot and emergency cleaning tasks as they arise.
• Monitor facility condition and report maintenance or repair concerns to the manager.
• Foster a clean and safe environment for all patrons and staff.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to PPE protocols.
• Create and adjust staff schedules; provide relief coverage when regular staff are unavailable.
• Lead and coordinate team members and volunteers, assigning and sharing work tasks.
• Collaborate directly with the URS Manager to ensure program success.
• Train new hires and volunteers as needed.
• Participate in regular staff meetings.

Requirements

Candidates must read, write, and communicate in English, have experience in home health, nursing, social services, or janitorial roles, and have demonstrated leadership or team‑project experience. Experience in conflict resolution, working with diverse populations, and basic computer skills are also required.

Bilingual ability and at least two years of supervisory or team‑leader experience are preferred.

Applicants need reliable transportation and must pass a criminal background check and drug screen; masks are required on site, and after 90 days employees must obtain First Aid/CPR certification.

• Read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Experience as a home health aide, nursing/psychiatric aide, orderly, social service assistant/aide, or janitorial work.
• Demonstrated experience leading projects or teams.
• Background in comparable social service settings such as homeless shelters or transitional housing.
• Proven conflict‑resolution and de‑escalation skills.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to thrive in a busy, fast‑paced environment.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.
• At least two years of experience as a supervisor or team leader.
• Reliable transportation is required.

Benefits

The URS Team Leader position is located at the Urban Rest Stop in Ballard and reports to the URS Manager. Work hours are Monday‑Friday, 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, with an exempt, non‑union status and a pay range of $23.67‑$30.15.

Urban Rest Stop hygiene centers provide people experiencing homelessness with showers, toiletries, and laundry services in a clean, safe, respectful environment. The Team Leader greets, assists, and monitors patrons, maintains a high level of service and cleanliness, and leads, trains, and schedules staff and volunteers.
