Very high level of interpersonal skills to handle difficult situations as well diffuse interpersonal conflicts effectively.
Strength – Position involves work in a standard office environment. Frequent sitting. Occasional standing, walking. Rare lifting.
College degree with a major in engineering or equivalent.
Experience working in a multi-site, global manufacturing and engineering environment.
Some training and/or experience in statistic, Six Sigma and Lean.
Formal course work and experience in probability, statistic, TPM, Lean, Six Sigma.
Proficiency as a supervisor, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Emotional Demands – Position is vital to the organization, as no service or support product can enter multiple Progress Rail facilities without Indirect Sourcing Team; high degree of flexibility and demand with ability to work with a team to accomplish the mission.
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
Safety – Position is primarily limited to general office safety and travel requirements; however, visits to industrial locations may require the use of PPE.
Motion – Position requires standard repetitive motions and hand/eye coordination associated with research and central office communications.
Ability to manage a group of technically oriented engineers and support personnel.
Very high level of analytical ability to assess and identify appropriate alternative courses of action for definition and resolution where problems are highly unusual and/or complex.
Experience as a reliability or quality engineer.
Knowledge of large diesel engines and automated manufacturing systems.
