What you would be doing

  • Working closely with field operations staff regarding operation and optimisation of treatment processes to ensure compliance with Regulations is maintained for best value
  • Participating in a standby roster on a minimum 1/12-day basis
  • Undertake water quality risk assessments to ensure risks to quality and production are mitigated, including advising on service recovery during water quality events.
  • Monitoring and analysis of telemetry and laboratory data
  • Ensure that all relevant UK and EC legislation is adhered to, in particular that relating to drinking water quality
  • Undertake detailed investigations into the root cause of water quality compliance failures and incidents and produce reports with recommendations for remedial and preventative actions
  • Routine process audits on the Water Supply Works in your area of responsibility
  • Provide input to planned and reactive reporting to the Drinking Water Inspectorate

  • Good mathematical fluency
  • Confident in collecting and analysing data to investigate scientific issues and drawing out conclusions and recommendations
  • Graduate in science or engineering or equivalent business experience
  • Good understanding of water chemistry/ biology and the principles of water treatment
  • Self-motivated, assertive, and independent thought whilst being a good team worker working within a reactive environment
  • Knowledge of the regulatory principles and framework governing the UK water supply industry
  • Excellent IT skills including data analysis in excel
