Responsible for providing technical support to operations management with respect to surveying, drilling and blasting, exploration, reserve evaluation, inventory management, and mine design for permitting and mine planning purposes.
- Prepare phased short, medium, and long term mine plans for operations management
- Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule
- Serve on subcommittees consisting of employees of other CRH companies and fulfill obligations for various projects aimed at improving standards across CRH
- Surveys various boundaries, limits, and topography for mine planning and property management
- Promote and utilize technology, engineering, and other factors that could affect the costs, safety, and sustainability impacts of surface or underground mining
- Conducts inventory surveys using drone and traditional surveying methods
- Share and document knowledge that promotes the current and future success of the engineering department
- Use mine planning software for various engineering projects such as overburden stripping plans, reserve estimation, exploration projects, and Security and Exchange Commission documentation as well as other CRH requirements
- Mentor less experienced members of the team

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home regularly
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Highly proficient use of computer and web-based applications (e.g., CAD, AggFlow, Microsoft Office Suite, Talpac and Haulsim, drone software, etc.). Strong word processing skills
- Experience with land surveying instruments is a plus.
- Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees
- Highly developed oral, verbal, and written communication skills and an ability to work with management and peers
- Ability to perform and prioritize short and long term expectations with minimal direction/oversight as needed
- Ability to obtain Part 107 Drone License Certification
- Ability to perform under pressure to complete tasks accurately and on time
- Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the key responsibilities
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
- Ability to be a self-starter and able to operate under general guidelines
- Ability to develop clear communicable plans using data driven information to be presented to upper management
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times
- Capability to present plans to wide array of audience
- Proficiency with mine planning software is required; experience with Carlson Surface Mining Module is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, Geology, or a related field from a four-year college or technical school.
