Electrical Design Engineer - MEP

Description

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems for new construction and renovation projects across various sectors. This role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to develop safe, efficient, and code-compliant solutions.

• Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, project managers, and contractors
• Participate in client meetings and present design concepts as needed
• Design power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems for commercial and industrial facilities
• Prepare construction documents including drawings, specifications, and technical reports
• Review shop drawings, conduct site visits, and provide technical support during construction
• Ensure compliance with NYC Electrical Code, NEC, NFPA, and applicable industry standards
• Perform load calculations, short-circuit analyses, arc flash studies, and equipment sizing
• Contribute to project scheduling, budgeting, and quality control processes

Requirements

• 3–7 years of professional experience in building electrical systems design
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Exposure to high-profile NYC projects and advanced engineering technologies
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
• EIT certification required; PE license preferred or in progress
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; experience with SKM or ETAP is a plus
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
• Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, and NYC codes
