Description

The role involves placing daily and weekly orders with steel‑mill supplier partners in line with established sourcing strategies. You will channel purchases based on price, availability, and quality while quoting steel‑pipe projects as directed. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key contacts at steel‑pipe mill partners and managing inventory for assigned VSN regions are essential to ensure supply continuity and operational efficiency.

• Issue purchase orders to steel pipe suppliers as required.
• Manage and maintain steel pipe inventory levels at assigned VSN locations.
• Transfer steel pipe between VSN locations to support demand when applicable.
• Obtain 30‑day price sheets from all supplier partners.
• Quote and negotiate steel pipe for specific customer projects.
• Communicate VSN quality issues to suppliers and request resolution.
• Resolve supplier invoice discrepancies.
• Identify “deadstock” with VSN locations and develop plans to use it up.
• Support resolution of steel pipe field claims.

Requirements

The position operates in a normal office environment with standard mental and visual demands and may require occasional travel. Physical requirements are typical for an office‑based role and include normal mental and visual attention.

• Understand supplier rebate programs and their impact on net price.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the steel pipe or pipe fabrication industry.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
