Drivers operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear-end load lift attachments to transport waste or recyclable containers that may exceed 1,000 pounds. They perform pickups in residential, commercial, or roll-off settings, requiring skilled backing maneuvers and navigation of high-traffic, congested roadways, driveways, alleys, and lot environments.
The role demands adherence to Waste Management safety rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws, along with completing pre- and post-trip inspections and reporting any unsafe conditions or incidents. Drivers must attend scheduled training, work with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency, communicate customer requests, keep sites clean after dumping, and complete end-of-day paperwork while assisting teammates as needed.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, legally eligible to work in the United States, and possess a Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement. One year of CDL driving or equivalent military experience within the past seven years is required, and a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
The position involves physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing.
The position offers a pay rate of $25.00 per hour and a full-time schedule of four days per week, working 10 to 12 hours each day. Candidates with at least one year of CDL driving experience in waste collection or local delivery are strongly preferred.
A WM job provides more than a paycheck; it creates opportunities for employees and their families. The company emphasizes stability, growth through an annual education assistance benefit, and invests in comprehensive medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, discounted stock options, dependent day care, and other perks.
Eligible employees receive a competitive total compensation package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, a stock purchase plan, 401(k) match, paid vacation, holidays, and personal days, with benefits varying by site.
