The role involves designing building systems, structural elements, and connections under the supervision of a professional engineer, performing engineering calculations and analyses. Candidates will work with a variety of materials such as steel, concrete, wood, and masonry, and will analyze existing structures for new uses, designing repairs or reinforcement as needed.
Collaboration is essential; the engineer will coordinate with architectural, mechanical, and civil disciplines, provide construction administration assistance, conduct site visits and inspections, review shop drawings, and prepare detailed design calculations and construction drawings.
Required skills include strong theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles and proficiency with MS Office. Candidates should have an EIT/FE certification or be able to obtain it within one year, and hold a Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering from an ABET‑accredited college.
