Under general direction, the Service Business Manager leads a truck‑based service operation, expanding labor and material revenue, gross margin, and service asset performance. They deploy standardized tools, systems, and support for the Service Team, manage resources to maximize customer satisfaction, and improve productivity and profitability. The role also recruits, develops, and retains employees while ensuring overall operational excellence and service growth.
The manager sets and monitors goals for team growth and profitability, leads the Service Team to maintain productivity, consistency, and quality, and handles warranty issue closures. They manage customer relationships, drive issue resolution, assist with monthly forecasting and overhead account management, and maintain optimal staffing through labor forecasting and planning. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, retaining staff, creating performance plans, conducting quarterly one‑on‑ones and annual reviews, approving timesheets, and ensuring timely completion of checklists, debriefings, and safety near‑miss reports.
Additional duties involve managing bookings, accounts payable and receivable, overseeing safety performance and program compliance, and supporting the Service Team in identifying change‑order opportunities. The manager cultivates long‑term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

Required qualifications include a college degree or equivalent and at least ten years of HVAC experience. Preferred qualifications are a technical bachelor’s degree, five years of supervisory experience, 1‑2 years of site coordination or project management, five years of field HVAC or building controls experience, and proficiency with service management and financial accounting software. Excellent communication, Microsoft Office, and interpersonal skills are also required.
